EBP 101: Foundational Curriculum for Post-Licensure Nurses and Healthcare Professionals

Your Guide to Teaching EBP in the Classroom

This curriculum was developed to support nurse educators in confidently teaching evidence-based practice (EBP) through a practical, educator-focused approach. It provides structured lessons, ready-to-use activities, and flexible delivery options that make EBP concepts accessible and applicable for learners. Grounded in experience, the curriculum addresses the limitations of “mini-EBPs,” which often fail to demonstrate true skill acquisition due to time and knowledge constraints that prevent rigorous literature review and sound implementation recommendations.

This curriculum is not intended to replace a full EBP course, but to offer targeted opportunities for learners to practice core EBP skills without the pitfalls of superficial approaches.

This comprehensive EBP curriculum includes 4 zipped lesson files. Each lesson contains:

  • Lesson overview: explaining the objectives and lecture time
  • PowerPoint slide decks (narrated and unnarrated)
  • Optional activities with answer keys
  • Handouts and additional resources
