Integrating Pet Therapy to Enhance Clinician and Hospital Staff Well-Being

December 9, 2025

This episode of our Lessons in Nursing Leadership Webinar Series explores the effects of animal-assisted therapy (AAT). Healthcare work is often incredibly demanding and can lead to stress and burnout, negatively impacting job satisfaction, safety, and performance.  Our pilot study aimed to evaluate the effects of AAT delivered in the gynecology/obstetrics (GYN/OB) clinical setting on stress and burnout among inpatient and outpatient staff.  This webinar will review the results and implications of incorporating AAT into a workplace wellness program.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the impact of stress and burnout among GYN/OB clinicians and staff in hospital settings
  • Explain the purpose and approach of using animal-assisted therapy (AAT) to address stress and burnout
  • Summarize the key findings and practical implications of a pilot study evaluating the effects of AAT on stress and burnout reduction
