Using an evidence-based practice project focused on improving the recognition and treatment of postpartum preeclampsia patients presenting to the emergency department, participants will see how the tools were applied throughout the project lifecycle.

Margie Kunz, RN, MSN, CNS, NPD-BC, RNC-OB, C-EFM
Nursing Professional Development Specialist - Labor & Delivery
Margie is a 48-year employee at El Camino Health, starting as a CNA in the float pool, then in the Medical Unit as a new grad, followed by Critical Care until transferring to L&D in 1991. She was a clinical nurse in L&D for over 30 years, except for a 2-year stint when she became an analyst with Epic for the Orders Team. In 2021, Margie became the Nursing Professional Development Specialist in L&D and Maternity, overseeing the professional development of 330+ nurses. She has been the NPD Specialist in L&D for the last five years, earning her NPD Board Certification in 2022.
David deSimone, RN, BSN
Nationally Registered Paramedic
David has worked in healthcare for 35 years as a prehospital provider, Paramedic/ Firefighter, Critical Care & Emergency RN and Education Specialist. Currently the Education Specialist for the Emergency Management Team for El Camino Health.
Liliana Pisegna, MBA, BSN, RNC-NIC, NE-BC
Lily has worked in Maternal Child Health and has over 47 years’ experience in Maternal Infant Care Services and 33 years’ experience in Nursing Administration. She is currently the Clinical Manager of the Mother-Baby Department.
Yasmine Perdue, RN, DNP, FNP, CEN
Dr. Yasmine Perdue is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice with a background in molecular biology, emergency medicine, and clinical leadership. She owns and operates a functional and integrative medicine clinic in Pleasanton, while also serving as a staff and charge nurse in emergency medicine at El Camino Health. Her career integrates scientific research, advanced clinical practice, and entrepreneurship, with a focus on patient-centered care and healthcare innovation.
Hennessey Ortez
Hennessey is a highly skilled Nurse with 19 years of diverse clinical experience spanning ICU, Telemetry, and Postpartum care. She actively drives positive change within the Maternity unit by serving as the Maternity Unit Partnership Council Chair and the MCH Unit Partnership Council Co-chair. Throughout her nearly two decades of service, Hennessey remains fiercely committed to promoting superior patient outcomes and advancing the standards of patient-centered care.
