Evidence Adventures: Exploring the 5th Edition of the Johns Hopkins EBP Model

Step into the rainforest- where every decision can change the healthcare ecosystem

In this immersive, rainforest-themed workshop, participants become evidence-exploring navigators of the 5th edition of the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Model. Through hands-on challenges, interactive case study work, and surprises along the way, participants will learn and apply the PET process (Practice Question, Evidence, Translation) in real time.

This adventure is designed to ensure every learner leaves not just informed, but field-ready, with practical knowledge on how to identify and operationalize best evidence. You’ll map the full EBP journey, uncover practical tools and next steps for every phase, and collect trusted resources to continue your exploration long after you exit the jungle.

Target Audience

  • Clinicians and leaders seeking a practical, working understanding of EBP
  • Individuals who participate in or support EBP initiatives but are not responsible for formal instruction
  • Team members who need enough EBP knowledge to engage in discussions, decision-making, and implementation

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the purpose, structure, and appropriate use of the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Model and its PET (Practice Question, Evidence, Translation) process, including its bidirectional relationship with research.
  • Explain the process to formulate an EBP question from an identified clinical or organizational issue and conduct a search and critical appraisal of pre-appraised evidence.
  • Describe the process of translating and implementing best evidence to fit the organizational context and drive measurable practice change.
