Supplemental Course - Parkinson's Disease

This introduction to Parkinson's disease course is intended to give you a broad overview of Parkinson's disease, the second most common neuro-degenerative disease in our population after Alzheimer’s disease. As nurses, you will undoubtedly engage with patients affected by this disease.

Registered nurses (RN) and healthcare providers focusing on best practices in chronic disease management, case management, caregiver education and support, transitional care, and geriatric evaluation and management.

Learning Objectives

At the close of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize non-motor and psychological aspects of this complex illness.
  • Understand treatment options including medications and the value of a comprehensive team approach.
  • Understand the state of current research and the hope that research provides for those living with Parkinson's disease
