Daniel: A Case for Early Intervention in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Eradication

e-Cystic Fibrosis Review is a monthly CE series for nurses, nurse practitioners, and others involved in the care of patients with Cystic Fibrosis. It provides updates on the latest research, best practices, and issues currently under debate, as well as a concise review of relevant journal literature.

Target Audience

Clinicians involved in treating and managing patients with cystic fibrosis, including pulmonologists, pediatric pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, infectious disease physicians, endocrinologists, pediatricians, nurses, and other members of the cystic fibrosis care team (dieticians, respiratory therapists, social workers, etc).

Learning Objectives

After participating in this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to: 
  1. Evaluate the pros and cons of early P. aeruginosa eradication.
  2. Summarize the current evidence basis and expert opinion informing eradication best practices.
  3. Encapsulate key data from significant eradication trials including ELITE, EPIC and ALPINE.
  4. Incorporate evidence-based strategies to assess and improve eradication in the early stages of P. aeruginosa infection.
