Learning Objectives

After participating in this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to: 

  • Describe the role of vitamin D supplementation in preterm and late preterm infant vitamin D status and calcium homeostasis

  • Summarize the association between maternal vitamin D status in pregnancy and both groywth parameters and immune function at birth

  • Identify the vitamin D supplementation required for breastfed infants to avoid vitamin D deficiency
